Two sides who could meet in the Capital One Cup final meet on Saturday in search of three very important Premier League points.

Wins away to Aston Villa and Stoke City have helped Man Utd regain momentum after a tricky period which saw them slip 13 points off the pace in the Premier League. The team have definitely begun to display more creativity in open play, but another victory here will be huge for manager David Moyes, who has already presided over three defeats at Old Trafford.

West Ham would happily exchange their success in the Capital One Cup for more Premier League points. On Wednesday, they won at Tottenham to book their place in the semi-finals of that competition, while they sit just a point clear of the drop zone. Sam Allardyce succeeded in ensuring that all four games between the sides last season were tight affairs, and will no doubt attempt to do so again.

Man Utd continue to be without injured duo Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie, and are also waiting on the fitness of Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic. Marouane Fellaini should return from a back problem.

Captain Kevin Nolan serves the final game of his suspension for his sending off in West Ham’s recent defeat at Liverpool. Andy Carroll, Winston Reid, Stewart Downing and Ricardo Vaz Te are also out, while there is a slight concern over the fitness of James Tomkins.
