Chelsea and Manchester United have both set their sights on France youth international Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to insidefutbol.com.

The 19-year-old is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 for Rennes, and has been in impressive form since making his league debut earlier this year.

Bakayoko’s impressive progress at both club and international level has alerted a host of top clubs across Europe, and Premier League big guns Manchester United and Chelsea have both registered an interest.

The defensive midfielder has featured in 12 Ligue 1 games so far this season, and has been the brightest spark for a Rennes team that currently sits 13th in the table.

The Ligue 1 club will fight to keep the young midfielder, who has already appeared for France at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level.

Rennes will be desperate to keep Bakayoko – a product of the club’s youth academy – but are aware they would be almost powerless to stop the midfielder moving on should they receive a big offer from either Manchester United or Chelsea.

Despite being primarily known as a defensive midfielder, Bakayoko has already demonstrated his attacking abilities this season, by scoring a fine goal in his side’s 5-0 win over Toulouse in October.
