Dimitar Berbatov: Fulham -
We are just weeks away from the transfer window being prised opened, though David Moyes would probably like to throw a brick through it now to begin his dealings. Arsenal are said to be on the look out for a new striker and one name being discussed is Fulham's Dimitar Berbatov. Apparently he is not happy at Craven Cottage and with a contract set to expire next summer, could be snapped up in January.

Alexandre Pato: Corinthians
Pato is more of a second striker, but there were reports in Brazil claiming Arsene Wenger had made a £6.5m bid for the 24-year-old. He has been at Corinthians since last January after moving from Milan, but he has scored just nine times in 30 games.

Karim Benzema: Real Madrid
It's a long shot, but could still happen. Real reportedly want Luis Suarez, though the Liverpool striker claims he will not be moving until summer at the earliest. “Yes, I am happy here and will stay at Liverpool until the end of the season,” he said, adding that he wants to get the Reds into the top four. However, footballers love money and lots of it, which Real appear to have and they could test the Anfield board's resolve in January, which would give Arsenal hope of landing Benzema.

Alvaro Morata: Real Madrid
If Arsenal do not get their hands on Benzema in January, then his 21-year-old team-mate Alvaro Morata could be a loan option. The Spain starlet is keen to forge a place in the Real team in future, but has refused to rule out a loan move in winter. Barca's Gerard Deulofeu has been fantastic at Everton, but Morata has also been linked to north London rivals Tottenham.

Kostas Mitroglou: Olympiakos
Liverpool are the other club linked to 24-year-old striker Mitroglou. In the Greek Superleague he has scored 14 goals in 10 games for Olympiakos as well as three in five Champions League matches. Mitroglou, whose three strikes for Greece over two legs helped his country see off Romania in the World Cup play-offs and and secure their place in Brazil, will cost around £7m.

Tonny Sanabria: Barcelona
Sanabria has been linked with a transfer away from Barcelona and the 17-year-old is about to enter the final 18 months of his contract at the Camp Nou. Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo claims the forward has verbally agreed to join another club, which is thought to be Arsenal, as he seeks a way out of the club. He is already a full Paraguay international and could be available for around £2.5m.
