Chelsea v Crystal Palace: Cahill and Cole out but who should start?
Jose Mourinho has revealed in his pre match press conference today that Gary Cahill is out of the game tomorrow and Ashley Cole will be rested with Cesar Azpilicueta coming back into the side. Who else do you think should start for Chelsea?
It's a massive ten days for Chelsea coming up starting tomorrow with Palace at home, Sunderland in the League Cup Quarter Final in the week followed by The Arsenal next Monday. You can see that Mourinho is already planning ahead with his decision to keep Cole fresh for Sunderland.
Now, in a ideal world we would go a few goals up against Palace and have the option of taking people off and replacing them to give them some extra rest but there is still a game to be won here.
Under Tony Pulis, Palace are doing well and they come to the Bridge with a game plan. You have to imagine they will come here with bodies behind the ball looking to negate any space in front of their back four and will be very, very disciplined.
No disrespect to Palace and their supporters but if they were to come away from the Bridge with anything tomorrow, they would consider that to be a massive bonus.
Chelsea have to win the game to put pressure on Arsenal who face Man City this weekend. We need to select a side that will give us the right balance throughout, keeping things solid but a side that has the ability to hit Palace and force them backwards time and time again.
I would like to see us play at a quicker tempo than the other night but right now, I would take the same performance as long as we get the three points.
Here is the side I would like to see start tomorrow:
Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry(c), Azpilicueta, Ramires, Mikel, Hazard, Mata, Schurrle and Torres.
