Iker Casillas to Arsenal? What the Spanish press say
As it was reported yesterday, El Confidencial have this week claimed Arsenal are keen on signing Real Madrid's World Cup winning goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who is apparently considering a summer exit from the Santiago Bernabeu. Here, we look at the story in detail and the Spanish press' reaction…
Casillas ‘dreams’ of playing with Arsenal if he has to leave Madrid
As talkSPORT have already highlighted in the past, El Confidencial note that Casillas seriously considered his future with Madrid last summer, but ultimately opted to battle for his place in the team, then review his decision at the end of the 2013/14 season depending on how his situation progressed.
The website says that manager Arsene Wenger has been looking to bring in a new keeper ‘for some time now’, and that Wojciech Szczesny doesn’t convince the coach due to his unpredictability. They also add that Casillas is one of several keepers being watched by the Gunners, but don't reveal who the others are.

Barcelona-based Mundo Deportivo also reported on the same story, and added the presence of Mesut Ozil, his former Real Madrid team-mate along with compatriots Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal could be a big factor in luring Casillas to the Emirates. They note that Manchester City are also keen on bringing a new keeper in during the winter window, which is seemingly impossible with Casillas, while Victor Valdes may be their bigger priority anyway.
Arsenal fans, is Casillas the kind of signing you would like to see next summer? Let us know below...
