Manchester United are currently struggling to perform in the Premier League.
As the reigning champions, it's fair to say that David Moyes is underperforming in his role.
However, it was always going to take time for the Scot to settle at Old Trafford.
Here are five reasons why United must stick with Moyes.
Moyes needs more time
David Moyes has been manager of Manchester United for less than six months. That's simply not enough time to judge whether or not he's cut out for the job at Old Trafford.
The Scot is on a six-year contract - and it would be absurd to sack him before he's even completed his first full season at the club.
United must allow him to see out the campaign, while it would make sense if they gave him at least two full campaigns before making a firm judgement about whether or not they made a mistake with his appointment.
Glimpses of promise
It's not been all doom and gloom for the reigning Premier League champions since David Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer.
There was that hard-fought 1-0 win over league-leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford, which proved that Moyes is capable of getting results against the big boys, while United's 5-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League's group stages last month was the club's biggest away win in Europe since 1964.
All Moyes must do is get his side playing with more consistency.
No adequate replacement
Say Manchester United do take the decision to sack Moyes. Who do they replace him with?
Jose Mourinho is back with Chelsea, Jurgen Klopp is more than happy to continue his fine work with Borussia Dortmund, while Pep Guardiola is now working his magic at Bayern Munich.
None of these three managers would accept the job. Neither would the likes of Diego Simeone or Carlo Ancelotti, who are both in similar positions.
There are a lack of first-class coaches available right now - and United would not sack Moyes unless they had a suitable replacement lined up.
Trust Ferguson's judgement
In Sir Alex Ferguson's farewell speech to the Old Trafford faithful, the veteran Scot told the United fans their job was to get behind the new manager.
Moyes needs support from the club's fans in order to pull him through the tough times - and they must trust Ferguson's judgement.
How often was Ferguson right during his coaching career? Certainly more times than he was wrong.
And he remains convinced that United currently have the right man in charge.
United must not buy into sacking culture
Do Manchester United want to go down the same route as the likes of Chelsea: replacing their coach once every nine months?
That distasteful sacking culture is a sad part of modern-day football - and United must prove they're bigger than that, at least until they know for certain whether or not Moyes is the right man for the job.
The Red Devils are in their transitional period - and although they may suffer a few bumps and bruises along the way, Moyes is capable of leading them out the other side reasonably unscathed.
