Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova says Cesc Fabregas will be staying at the club this summer, despite interest from Manchester United.

United have spent much of the summer perusing a deal for pass-master Fabregas, and finally lodged a £26million bid for his services on Monday.

The offer was immediately turned down, and according to Barca boss Vilanova, Fabregas has no interest in departing the Nou Camp anytime soon.

‘It is good to receive offers for Cesc Fabregas – it means he is playing well,’ said Vilanova at his first pre-season press conference.

‘But I’ve spoken to Cesc and he wants to stay. He wants to win titles with Barca.’

Vilanova’s comments will come as a notable blow to United manager David Moyes, who has struggled to make much headway with his list of targets.

Bayern Munich beat United to sign Thiago Alcantara from Barca this week, and progress has been slow on deals for Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.

Moyes is expected to raise extra cash by selling a host of fringe players, but his failure to bring in players will alarm United fans with the new season edging ever closer.
