In regards to the first-team, he doesn’t need a complete overhaul but should start a re-generation process to begin the ‘Moyes-era’ and to smoothly complete a much needed transitional period at United, without compromising trophies.
Goal-keeper: David de Gea
The Spaniard was in incredible form last season and played an instrumental role in his first title-winning campaign. He continued it over the summer at the under-21 European Championships and his fantastic goal-keeping has cemented the belief that he is the natural successor to the saintly Iker Casillas.
Right-back: Rafael
The young Brazilian was a consistent performer last season and finally matured into a player who can perform week-in week-out at Old Trafford. Once rated less than his twin brother, he has seen himself become a first-team player whereas his twin found himself out on loan last season.
Centre-back: Ezequiel Garay
The Argentine has been linked with a big-money move to Manchester and the deal is apparently on the verge of completion. He would prove to be a younger and more reliable replacement for the injury-prone Nemanja Vidic.
Centre-back: Rio Ferdinand
Ferdinand responded to critics and was phenomenal last season. He was doubted since his England dismissal but bounced back and was instrumental in United’s title reclamation. He will be another stand out player next year with both ability and experience on his side.
Left-back: Leighton Baines
Almost a guaranteed United-bound mover and a reunion with David Moyes further fuels speculation over his Everton future. A free-kick specialist and an extremely attacking full-back, Baines will add width whilst also confidently completing his defensive duties.
Centre-midfield: Michael Carrick
Experience and patience, the England international has grown into his own since his arrival at Manchester United. He is always in the starting line-up due to his incredible ability of winning, retaining and recycling the ball. He keeps things ticking and is very much an unsung hero.
Centre-midfield: Cesc Fabregas
Manchester United have reportedly tabled a £25m bid for the ex-Arsenal man. The Spaniard is a fantastic box-to-box midfielder with a special eye for creating goals. His game time is limited at Barcelona and he may be lured back to England. He understands the Premier League and will add more class to the United midfield.
Centre-midfield: Shinji Kagawa
He was played out of his favoured attacking midfield position and was often deployed on the left-wing. Though able, he was notably less effective in this position and hopefully Moyes will execute the fantastic player in his favoured position. He can become the standout performer in the United side next season.
Left-wing: Cristiano Ronaldo
The homecoming is a dream for United fans. Ronaldo left as a superstar and may return as a worldwide idol. He lit up La Liga and has taken the Bernabau by storm since joining Real Madrid in 2009. He will bring bags of goals and a sense of power to Old Trafford if he does return.
Right-wing: Gareth Bale
Bale stole the limelight last season and has been compared to Ronaldo following his exploits. He scored countless screamers and last-minute winners to claw Tottenham into fifth place. Although, missing out on Champions League football may force him to leave this season. Playing on the right-wing will allow him to cut inside and unleash his left-foot at goal.
Centre-forward: Robin van Persie
The Dutchman carried his Arsenal form across to Manchester and was the key to winning the title and beating Manchester City to the Premier League. He will hopefully continue his incredible form and guide United David Moyes to the Premier League title.
