Manchester United manager David Moyes got his first win since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson with an emphatic 5-1 win in Sydney.

The Red Devils were in good form against the A-League All-Stars at the ANZ Stadium, with a mix of youth and experience doing the trick for the Premier League champions.

Jesse Lindgard opened the scoring early and Danny Welbeck doubled Manchester United's advantage in the first period.

Besart Berisha pulled a goal back for the Australian league's top players soon after the interval, but Lindgard put the tourists back into the ascendency soon after with a fine finish past Michael Thoe.

Welbeck grabbed his second as the half wore on, as Ryan Giggs & Co took command of the midfield. And, star striker Robin Van Persie completed the scoring late on, with the Dutchman taking advantage of a late run-out to get his side's total to five.

Wilfried Zaha made his debut for the Red Devils and impressed down under, whilst Rio Ferdinand and Phil Jones showed promise as a centre back pairing in the first 45 minutes.
