Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to rival Liverpool for Paris St Germain playmaker Javier Pastore - and he's still keen on Blaise Matuidi too.

French newspaper Le 10 Sport claims Mourinho is eyeing a double swoop for the Paris St Germain duo in the January transfer window.

Pastore, who has been mentioned in the past as a target for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, is reportedly surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes.

A €42m signing from Palermo in 2011, the report claims PSG would accept offers in the region of €20m for him in the January transfer window. That figure would be within the budgets of Chelsea and Liverpool, with Mourinho thought to be a fan of the Argentine playmaker.

He's played in less than half of PSG's Ligue 1 games this season, and Laurent Blanc is believed to be happy for him to look for a new club.

Liverpool came close to signing an attacking midfielder like Pastore over the summer, but their moves for Willian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were foiled by Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

Matuidi is a slightly more complicated case. The France international is out of contract at the end of the season.

The Parisian club are desperate to retain him, but the player and club remain deadlocked in negotiations with speculation mounting that Matuidi could listen to rival contract offers in January.

The midfielder is free to talk to foreign clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool from six months prior to the expiration of his contract in June 2014.
