Jack Wilshere has earmarked Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise to play him in a film about his Arsenal career.

The pint-sized playmaker, 21, has enjoyed an action-packed start to his career since being trust into the limelight as a 16-year-old, and feels the Mission: Impossible actor would be the right man to do him justice on the silver screen.

When asked by a fan during a live Google Hangout who would play him in a film about his life, Wilshere said: ‘That’s a good question – [I'd pick] Tom Cruise. And Eva Mendes would be my leading lady.’

The midfielder also admitted he was gutted to see Cesc Fabregas leave the Gunners to return to Barcelona back in 2011, and expressed his gratitude to manager Arsene Wenger for nurturing him through to the Arsenal first team.

‘I was really upset about Fabgregas leaving. He was the captain and you always went to him if you had a problem,’ added Wilshere.

‘[Wenger] gave me a chance when I was 16 and brought me into the first team. He picked me out and gave me that chance to train with the first team. He put his arm around me.

‘Some games I didn’t play well but he still stuck with me, when you’re young you do make mistakes.’
