Manchester United who are not performing so
well in the English League, put on a great show as they scored 5 goals
past Bayer Leverkusen.
Goals from Antonio Valencia, Evans
,Smalling , Nani and an own goal by Spahic helped Manchester United to
progress into the next round. Four of the goals were assisted by Wayne
Rooney.
Antonio Valencia opened the scoring in the
22nd minute of the game. Wayne Rooney’s cross was met by Valencia, whose
shot from the right side of the six yard box found the bottom right
corner.
United’s lead was doubled when Spahic scored an own goal.
Later in the 65th minute of the second
half, Jonny Evans extended United’s lead. Rooney’s shot rebounded and
kindly fell into Evans’ feet as he had put the ball into the net from a
very close range.
More was to come as Smalling added another
goal to make it 0-4.
Once again Rooney providing the assist as he
chipped the ball over the keeper to Smalling’s feet. Samlling then
scored in an empty, again from a very close range.
Nani wrapped up the scoring as he scored the 5th goal of the game for Manchester United.
Manchester United have 11 points from 5
games and have already qualified to the next round with a game in hand.
Whereas, Bayer Leverkusen have 7 points from 5 games.
