TIM SHERWOOD has heaped praise on Emmanuel Adebayor, and believes he could define Tottenham’s second half of the season.

Adebayor has been a revelation since the turn of the year after coming out of the wilderness when he was under the guidance of the ill-fated Andre Villas-Boas.

The striker has enjoyed something of a renaissance under the tutelage of Sherwood, rattling in five goals in his last six league appearances.

With Spurs just one point off the Champions League places, Sherwood is fully aware that Adebayor could be the difference between securing a place at Europe’s top table or settling for Europa League football once again.

"He has been fantastic and he has been given a platform to play," Sherwood said.

"He is enjoying his football and he will be up for the game tomorrow night."

"His form certainly helps - he is one of the top strikers in the Premier League. If he gets the service, we can rely on him. He is crucial to gets us where he wants to be."

But Sherwood has also revealed Adebayor is not a "natural goalscorer".

"He’s not a natural scorer, but at times he’s unplayable. It is his all-round game that makes him a threat and long may that continue."
