Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delighted to be heading 'home' with Manchester United trip
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he cannot wait for his Manchester United homecoming on Tuesday evening.
The Norwegian, who netted 126 goals for the Red Devils - including the winner in the 1999 European Cup final - during an 11-year spell, returns to Old Trafford as manager of Cardiff City on Tuesday evening.
Nicknamed the 'Babyfaced Assassin' during his time in Manchester, Solskjaer is sure to be afforded a tremendous reception from United fans, at a ground where he is still revered.
“I looked at the fixture list when I took the job at Cardiff to see when we played United, of course I did," revealed Solskjaer, speaking to the Manchester Evening News.
“I thought more about coming back when I was first offered the Cardiff job and in those first couple of days than I have done lately. I haven’t had time since.
“I am not going to lie to you and say it is just three points. Coming back ‘home’ is going to be a fantastic experience for me. It is the best place in the world to play football."
Cardiff sit bottom of the Premier League table after four defeats in their last five matches.
