Manchester United and Chelsea are set to get some competition out of Serie A in their pursuit of Ajax starlet Joel Veltman.

According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are ready to get involved in any bidding war or negotiations and are prepared to take on the big-spending Premier League teams at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.

Reports this week claimed that Manchester United manager David Moyes and his counterpart at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, were getting glowing reports from scouts watching Veltman play a major role in the Ajax team that is five points clear at the top of the Eredivisie.

However, new Milan boss Clarence Seedorf has also taken a shining to the young defender and the Calciomercato report claims he is interested in having the youngster nicknamed 'The General' by Ajax boss Frank de Boer join the Rossoneri at San Siro.

Former Arsenal winger, and current Ajax director of football, Marc Overmars recently issued a hands-off warning to any clubs interested in poaching Veltman, so Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan are likely to have to bid big to land him.
