The South by Southwest Film Festival can make or break the launch of a movie. Hopefully it does the former for Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley’s (Stefan) new film, Before I Disappear. The film was just announced as part of the SXSW lineup, and Paul couldn’t be more excited...
“Thrilled that our film ‘Before I Disappear’ will be premiering and in competition at this year's @sxsw,” Paul tweeted last night, after The Hollywood Reporter announced the inclusion of the film in this year’s film premiere schedule. It will presumably compete in the Narrative Feature categories of the festival.
The film is the first feature from short film director and feature writer Shawn Christensen. He won an Oscar for his short, “Live Action,” last year. According to the IMDB page, the plot for Before I Disappear is as follows: “At the lowest point of his life, Richie gets a call from his estranged sister, asking him to look after his eleven-year old niece, Sophia, for a few hours.”
Paul will play the supporting role of Gideon alongside Shameless star Emmy Rossum, The West Wing’s Richard Schiff, and Shawn himself. We can’t wait to see what Paul’s role entails! We’ve really got to see just how flexible of an actor he can be in his turns as sociopathic Silas, amnesiac Stefan, and good old-fashioned Broody Stefan over the course of Season 5’s run thus far. We hope this role gives him a chance to stretch his acting wings in front of a larger and more diverse audience. Best of luck, Paul!
The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
