Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is acutely aware of how important tonight's return to the Red Devils is and is highly motivated to score against the Gunners in a fourth successive Premier League match, according to former Red Devils striker Louis Saha.

Van Persie has faced Arsenal three times since completing a controversial switch to Old Trafford 2012 and scored on all three occasions, including the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over the title contenders last November.

The Dutch striker celebrated that decisive strike with relish and Saha believes he will have no problem with pouring scorn on Arsene Wenger's title bid again by netting this evening.

Saha thinks that Van Persie still has an insight on Arsenal's weaknesses and will look to use them to his advantage tonight, before backing the veteran to manage a second return to the Emirates in style.

He told the club's official website: “Of course, there’s always focus on van Persie in this fixture.

“Players often do well against their old clubs and Robin has three goals in three games against Arsenal. As a player you have a stronger motivation against your old team and an awareness of what their weaknesses might be.

“Robin didn’t celebrate his first goal against them, and that’s out of respect, but since then he has looked pretty happy about scoring past them. Hopefully he keeps that run going on Wednesday.”

Both teams will be desperate to secure three precious points in Wednesday night's Premier League headliner, but for very different reasons.

Arsenal will return to the top of the table with victory over United tonight, while the Red Devils need a positive result to reignite fading hopes of a top-four finish and Champions League.
