The Portugal star referred to the Frenchman as "the best striker in La Liga" - something which gives confidence to Real Madrid's No.9
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema admits it is a pleasure to hear Cristiano Ronaldo describe him as La Liga's best striker.
The Portugal star hailed his team-mate as the best in his position in Spain's top flight after his two goals in the 5-0 rout of Athletic Bilbao.
Ronaldo himself scored his third Liga hat-trick in four games against Ernesto Valverde's side and Benzema says he is delighted to hear such praise from a player he believes is currently the best on the planet.
"It's a pleasure to hear it from him, because right now he's the best player in the world and he knows a little about this. I really appreciate it," the France international told Marca.
Benzema added that the understanding of the so-called 'BBC' partnership between himself, Ronaldo and Gareth Bale is continuing to develop as his side's form begins to reach that which saw them win the Champions League last season.
"We understand each other very well, we complement each other and always try to help each other out. Everyone has their way of playing, but we always look for the good of the team," he added.
"Last year was a big year. I think that, this year, we needed to find a little rhthym, but bit by bit we're getting closer to our goals."
